To Sweeping Up The Stars
Hey Rachel, I thought I should share something with you, because..I have to confess: I haven't seen any Pixar movies for weeks until today. Jason, Austin, Lisa, Ninad and I went to see Brave , Pixar's newest creation. Overall I enjoyed it, but here's the thing--the flick felt too noisy . It just felt like too much was happening too quickly at any given moment, with the triplets scurrying around, the kings infighting, the crowds, the cutaway moments. I can't remember if other Pixar flicks felt this quickly paced, but at least something like Finding Nemo really builds its sequences from quiet to loud, with the jellyfish scene and the whale scene, and Wall-E had that marvelous opening that's so careful to invite us in instead of blast us with incident. I think Roger Ebert put it very accurately: "The good news is that the kids will probably love it, and the bad news is that parents will be disappointed if they're hoping for another Pixar groundbreake...
