To Weighing Your Options

How Doctors Die Very, very interesting perspective. Doctors must continue to educate patients about the risks vs benefits of treatment. All too often, family members will inadvertently act in their own self interest by wishing extension of life for their terminal loved one. Occasionally consultants will act in an aim to “help” the terminal patient until the patient comes to grips with the inevitable outcome. I think this rings very true. As as society, we focus on length of life, not quality of life, and therefore we should reevaluate our approach.

To all the Doctors

Clinic today was absolutely heartbreaking. I was called outside to talk to a client, someone I was unable to thoroughly help earlier that day. She had recently found out that she had a tumor in her chest, and my lack of resources was the straw that broke the camel's back. Rachel...to witness such a bleak, stress-pounding world she lives in, is something that bothers me still... The compounding uncertainty and fear that brought about this nervous breakdown...fuck...I don't even know what to say... To all the doctors out there, cure cancer. I don't know how, but please..just do it.
