To a Virtual Reality

Congratulations to SpaceX. Who successfully attached to the International Space Station in their CRS-1 Cargo Resupply Mission. Watching all this on the YouTube stream, it dawned on me: the fact is... most of our perceptions are virtual . Most people have never seen an actual launch, most people have never seen a rocket or an astronaut. We read papers, watch television and movies, then listen to the reverberation of pundits and absorb the virtual as reality. I think we need to step back and look around us and recognize the immediate, the familiar, the real. Recreating images of images is a parlour trick. Recognizing the significance of the world that's at our fingertips requires acceptance of our limitations and exploration of what we perceive as the mundane. #somethoughts

To That Light Bulb

My favorite conversations are not the ones where you walk away having learned something new, but rather the ones where you walk away with the inklings of a new idea, the ones where something was said--either by you or the other person--that made you go down a new line of thought. #thiscouldbeit
